Fred Roscaleer turned 90 on Tuesday, December 16, and is the oldest member of the Frodsham Silver Band. Fred plays the tuba. At the finish line of the fundraiser in aid of Halton Haven Hospice at The Brindley, he saw his great niece complete the Santa Dash and met Halton mayor Shaun Osborne. The band plays in rest homes, the Frodsham Christmas Festival and the proms at St George’s Hall in Liverpool. Eve, a euphonium player with the band, and Mum to its youngest member, Daisy, said that the children who play in the band look up to Fred. Fred served in the Royal Engineers during the Second World War and also played rugby for Widnes. The kids love him.
